I used the switch service to find cheaper rates for my energy supplier. I was advised that the cheapest supplier would be bulb. What's better, they give you £50 if you use a referral code! And then £50 for you and anyone who joins with your referral code!
I was eager to sign up and start saving. It takes about three weeks to complete your switch and you should receive a gas and electricity key/card.
Now here's the problem.
Like many, I have switched to a smart meter. Being on PAYG, my current supplier allows me to top up from online and in store.
Bulb, unfortunately does not offer PAYG on a smart meter. I would be able to use direct debit only in this circumstance, which is a problem to me.
So with only a week to go before my switch is complete, I have had to cancel my switch. The man I spoke to at bulb was very understanding and informative, with no pressure to stay and no animosity that I had changed my mind.
On the whole, the service is good. This being said, to not accommodate for households who wish to be on PAYG with a smart meter, in 2019, is ludicrous! Much improvement needed for this fast growing company!
