Bath Christmas Market

It’s easy to see why shoppers voted Bath Christmas Market the best in the UK in 2017. Set against a backdrop of the historic Roman baths and stunning 16th-century abbey, more than 150 sparkling chalets line the Georgian streets, looking like a row of intriguing Santa’s grottos containing special gifts such as craft items, hand-made jewellery, hand-knitted garments, speciality cheeses and gingerbread.

The bustling atmosphere sweeps shoppers up as they browse around the traditional wooden market stalls, while live entertainment is provided by carol singers, choirs and musicians.

Bath Christmas Market runs from 28th November to 15th December. It is open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am to 7pm, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 8pm and Sundays from 10am to 6pm.

Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market

Nestling in Winchester Cathedral’s historic Inner Close, this special market is surrounded by an open-air ice rink, where shoppers can don their skates if they fancy a break from browsing the stalls! The market has a German theme and attracts more than 350,000 visitors every year.

Traders sell a variety of craft items, including unique painted textiles and glasswork. Although the market is German-themed, there are many British craftspeople selling their wares too.

Shoppers are invited to enjoy festive fare, such as stollen and mulled wine, while watching a parade of hand-crafted Christmas lanterns from the cathedral to the Outer Close, followed by a fireworks display, on 28th November.

The market runs from 21st November to 22nd December and is open from 10am to 6.30pm Sunday to Wednesday, and from 10am to 8pm Thursday to Saturday.

George Square Christmas Market

Glasgow’s famous Christmas Market in George Square has an international theme and boasts gift ideas from as far afield as Ecuador and Kenya. Buy some unusual stocking fillers that recipients won’t find in the shops.

Two separate sites, each with 50 stalls, are situated in George Square and St Enoch Square. Boasting a fine display of unusual craft items including Italian nougat and sweets, hand-knitted woollen jumpers from Lapland and hand-painted Russian dolls, among the highlights are the Bavarian beerhouse and the Glühwein House, run by one of the world’s leading wine producers, Markus Kochems, of the Mosel valley.

The Glasgow George Square Christmas Market runs from 24th November until 31st December, from 10am to 10pm daily. The St Enoch Square Christmas Market has already begun and will continue until Sunday 29th December from 10am to 10pm each day.

Fowey Christmas Market

As one of the most popular Christmas events in Cornwall, Fowey Christmas Market regularly attracts around 10,000 visitors every year. Shoppers can find an abundance of locally-produced Christmas gifts, food and drinks. The market spreads across Fowey Town Quay, Albert Quay and Webb Street, attracting around 200 traders annually.

Visitors will find a host of fabulous boutique shops selling high-quality jewellery, gifts, clothes and unique craft items. There are also many cafes, coffee shops, pubs and restaurants with special Christmas menus to tempt your taste buds!

Live entertainment will include Fowey Primary School Choir singing Christmas songs, Laura and the Jazz Capsule and Betty Bluebird. Santa will be arriving by tug boat at Berrill’s Yard to lead the Christmas Lights parade through the town. Children’s tasty treats from The Quay Bakery, mulled cider from Wasted Apple Co and mulled wine at Fowey Hall Hotel will be on offer to shoppers.

The market will take place on Friday 6th December from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, Saturday 7th December from 10am to 5.30pm and Sunday 8th December from 10am to 4pm.

If you manage to get yourself down to the Christmas markets this year, be a sweetie and leave a review on the festive food and drink section of Psydro. You know you want to! 😊
